- Description
- The Maintenance Millwright will perform preventative maintenance, routine and non-routine repairs, and troubleshoot problems with machinery. Responsible for maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of all sawmill equipment to safely maximize uptime, quality, and productivity. Starting wage of $22/hour, with higher rates available for candidates with relevant skills and experience. - Key Responsibilities
- • Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
- • Machine troubleshooting, repair, assembly, preventative maintenance.
- • Repair or replace chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools.
- • Perform routine inspections to identify and correct minor or major equipment deficiencies.
- • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as replacement of wear items, bearings, chains, cylinders, motors, drives and so on as required.
- • Reading blueprint and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications.
- • Work with other millwrights to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- • Assist with projects and large repairs that may include fabrication, welding, cutting, pipe fitting, installing electrical conduit, and sawmill equipment installation.
- • Maintain a clean, safe, uncluttered work area.
- • Some maintenance work is performed outdoors, must be willing to work in the weather, heat or cold at times.

- Qualifications
- • Strong understanding of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
- • Experienced in fabrication/welding.
- • Preventative Maintenance (Maintenance Schedules).
- • Ability to execute and monitor maintenance projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues and find effective solutions.
- • Understanding of working in a production atmosphere.
- • Welding certifications a plus.
Physical Demands
- • The job requires sitting, squatting, reaching, bending, twisting, stair climbing, heights, exposure to dust and being near moving equipment and loud noise.
