  • Job Description
  • The purpose of the Engineering Support Assistant is to support the Hunter Communications Engineering
  • team with a variety of administrative functions integral to achieving departmental and company goals.
  • These functions include data evaluation and entry, information gathering and presentation, and
  • administrative support for day-to-day operations.
  • This position is responsible for communicating with Hunter staff, contractors, customers, and members
  • of the general public in a professional manner. As this position works with customer proprietary
  • network information (CPNI), a high level of confidentiality and sound judgment is required.
  • This is a full-time, in-office position that reports to the Director of Engineering.
  • Job Duties

Your duties as an Engineering Support Assistant will involve performing a variety of responsibilities and tasks, with the essential functions of your role including

  • Responsible for the verification of serviceable addresses within fiber optic construction project footprints using a variety of data sources such as federal, state, county, and municipal address databases, and property records.
  • Utilize various mapping software tools to evaluate individual addresses, determine installation or construction needs, and accurately record data in serviceable address spreadsheets and databases.
  • Support the Engineering team in day-to-day administrative tasks by filing purchase orders, coordinating vehicle maintenance, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Attend team meetings, take notes, and prepare post-meeting action items, readouts, and coordinate follow-up on critical tasks.
  • Assist the Director of Engineering by gathering information, preparing reports, coordinating activities between departments, and other tasks as assigned.

  • Constantly working in an indoor office environment.
  • Constantly reading, understanding, interpreting, and analyzing spreadsheets, written drawings, diagrams, and maps.
  • Constantly using a computer to perform data entry, evaluation, and validation tasks.
  • Occasionally grasping, lifting, and carrying items up to 40lbs in weight.
  • Work Environment

  • Constantly working in a light and temperature-controlled indoor office environment with a semi-open floor plan.

  • Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time position with a typical 40-hour work week occurring between Monday and Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. This position occasionally requires overtime (pre-authorized by supervisor as needed) to meet project deadlines.
  • This is an onsite position that requires daily presence in a Hunter Communications office, with the possibility of a shift to hybrid work depending on individual job performance and supervisor discretion.
  • Travel Requirements
  • This position may infrequently require travel within the Hunter Communications network footprint of Oregon and Northern California as dictated by business needs, with overnight stays as required by circumstances.

  • Intermediate working knowledge of and the ability to effectively operate and troubleshoot Windows-based computers and Android or iOS based mobile devices, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth and other Google Suite tools.
  • Able to safely operate a company-owned and/or personal motor vehicle in accordance with Hunter Communications policy, local, state, and federal laws. Adherence to Hunter Communications safety policies and procedures and industry best practices.
  • Required Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting information.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Strongly positive and professional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Preferred Education and/or Experience
  • Associate degree or some college education.
  • 2 or more years of experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • 1 or more years of experience working in the telecommunications industry in any role.
  • 2 or more years of experience performing address serviceability verification within the telecommunications industry.
