The purpose of the Schedule Management Office (SMO) is to partner with business units across the Department to provide schedule oversight and reporting that improves the delivery of NCDOT projects, programs, and services. In addition, the SMO manages the NCDOT’s project schedules in SAP by providing support and technical assistance, incorporating business process changes, and developing policy and procedures for its use. This consists of the Project System modules in SAP, the Business Warehouse (BW), and several web-based scheduling applications. The Schedule Support Engineer assists in updating project schedules from planning through closeout to ensure alignment with letting and funding timelines. This role supports key schedule reporting, provides technical support for accurately generating Central Letting and advertisement Lists, and offers informal training on scheduling and letting tools such as SAP Project Builder and Business Warehouse (BW). The Schedule Support Engineer also participates in assisting with the monthly Letting Review meetings, ensures compliance with letting reporting requirements, and coordinates project schedule closeout activities across multiple teams. The applicant chosen for this position should possess: • Strong communication skills both oral and written • Extensive problem-solving skills Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC18 $61,545-$107,703 Management prefers applicants with the following: Strong knowledge of the project development process—from the planning phase, through environmental document preparation and completion, continuing through the design phase, and concluding with project letting. Demonstrated ability to convey technical and schedule-related information across multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, particularly under time constraints and pressure. Working knowledge of the SAP system. Experience in data manipulation using Microsoft Excel and SAP Business Warehouse. Familiarity with Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word. Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
