- What You'll Do
- As an Engineer at Southeastern Electric Cooperative, you'll play a vital role in planning and analyzing our electric distribution system. Your work directly supports our field operations team, helps maintain system reliability, and contributes to building a safe and efficient energy future for the communities we serve.
- Your Responsibilities
- Design and develop electric distribution line projects for new residential and commercial services.
- Evaluate electric service requirements and assess existing infrastructure for necessary improvements.
- Design and maintain SCADA systems to ensure reliable monitoring, control and optimization of utility operations.
- Evaluate and operate the system protection program to safeguard equipment while ensuring reliable and compliant system performance.
- Provide technical insight on load additions and system capabilities.
- Prepare easements, plans, and specifications for distribution system projects.
- Ensure all designs meet NEC, NESC, RUS, and company standards.
- Stay current on safety protocols and regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local laws.
- Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing education and industry involvement.
- Requirements
- What You Bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
- Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power systems is preferred.
- A strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and applicable engineering codes and standards.
- The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Experience with utility engineering, system planning, or electric distribution (preferred but not required).
