Role
- As an Electrical and Test Technician, you will support the engineering team in creating EGSE, fabrication, modification, assembly, testing and prototyping of flight hardware for complicated mechanisms. Working within the engineering group, you’ll be tasked with component modifications and building assemblies, providing feedback and updates for procedures, performing component and assembly testing for function as well as flight qualifications. This position will allow you to work independently and exercise your judgment, as well as be part of a cross-specialty team to solve the engineering problems that accompany products in space.
Job Responsibilities
- Work on small precision assemblies, work with small tools underneath a microscope, handle delicate parts and optics
- Take ownership and maintain documentation for complex, high-reliability assemblies
- Modify existing mechanical parts using hand and machine tools
- Polymerics (epoxy) mixing and application
- Cabling and harness assembly and modifications
- Be able to identify non-conforming parts during the assembly process
- Perform standard manufacturing procedures, rework, and repair on manufactured equipment and products
- Test support: Vibration, Thermal, Shock, Vacuum
- Work with engineers to troubleshoot and solve technical issues
- Be willing to cross-train in multiple areas of specialty
- Provide input for continuous process improvement, develop more refined ways of manufacturing and assembling mechanical parts and components
- General knowledge of test equipment (i.e. Digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, Thermal Chambers/ Vacuum Chambers, etc.)
Required Qualifications
- US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- 2+ years working in an engineering field and/or precision mechanical assembly environment
- Ability to read and work to engineering documentation
- Excellent manual dexterity, ability to handle small parts
- Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities
- Familiarity with small tools used for hand-held assembly
- Experience using metrology tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Multi-meters, etc.)
- High standard of workmanship is a must
- Must have standard test equipment experience
- Collaborative and team focused
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, strategic, and statistical skills
- An effective sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, small company environment
Nice to Haves
- Aerospace Workmanship Standards: J-STD-001 Space Addendum, NASA STD 8739
- Certified IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Space environmental testing (ie. Shock, Vibration, TVAC, Thermal, Life, etc.)
- Experience setting up and operating manual and CNC mills and lathes
- Experience setting up and operating 3D printers
- Basic knowledge of GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5)
- Experience with Altium and wiring harness design
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS CAD software
- Experience working spacecraft or launch vehicle operations
- This position is a hybrid work model, requiring time both in our Lafayette, CO office and remotely.
