Your next career opportunity The Director, Organisation Development – Capability and Experience provides strategic and operational leadership in shaping the University’s approach to capability development, learning systems, and employee experience. Reporting to the Executive Director, Organisation Development, this pivotal role leads a team responsible for designing and delivering frameworks, programs, and digital systems that strengthen workforce capability, engagement, and belonging. Working in close partnership with senior leaders across faculties and divisions, the Director will ensure that every member of the University community has access to development opportunities that build the skills needed for success in an inclusive, future-ready environment. Your responsibilities will include: Strategic Leadership: Design and deliver the University’s enterprise capability and employee experience strategies, ensuring alignment with the People Strategy and Advancing Melbourne priorities. Capability Development: Lead the curation, design and delivery of scalable capability offerings and professional development initiatives across academic and professional cohorts. Learning Systems Stewardship: Oversee governance and optimisation of the University’s learning systems, including Workday Learning, ensuring accessibility, usability, and digital transformation. Employee Experience Design: Lead the University’s employee experience strategy, staff listening initiatives, and design of employee journey maps to enhance engagement and belonging. Governance and Reporting: Manage budgets, reporting, and insights to demonstrate the impact of capability and experience programs, contributing to key governance forums and People & Community leadership initiatives. You may be a great fit if : You are a strategic and collaborative leader with deep expertise in capability development, learning systems, and employee experience. You combine strong people leadership with a data-informed approach to organisational development, delivering initiatives that create meaningful impact. You will also have: Qualifications in organisational development, learning, HR, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Extensive experience leading enterprise-wide capability and learning strategies in large, complex organisations. Expertise in digital learning systems (e.g. Workday Learning, LMS/LXP platforms) and analytics. Strong understanding of employee experience design, mapping, and continuous improvement. Proven ability to engage and influence senior leaders across a large matrix organisation. High-level communication, analytical, and change management skills. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and leadership development.
