Position Overview:
The Director will be a critical early member of the Lemnis Collective team, helping to build our M&A function. This role will primarily lead investment sourcing, diligence, and execution efforts, while supporting the Managing Director on relationship development, deal structuring, integration planning, and portfolio management. The Director will also drive the development of Lemnis Collective’s investment theses and processes.
This role is ideal for an experienced corporate development, private equity, or impact investing professional with an impact orientation who is excited to build alongside a small, entrepreneurial team and who is passionate about shaping the future of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Sourcing and Pipeline Management
- Lead investment pipeline development by identifying, researching, and evaluating potential acquisition targets.
- Partner with the Managing Director on relationship-building with founders, nonprofit executives, and leadership teams.
- Coordinate internal pipeline operations and support early-stage screening.
Diligence and Deal Execution
- Own and drive preliminary diligence efforts, including financial, operational, strategic, and mission alignment analyses.
- Lead investment memo preparation and presentation of recommendations for internal decision-making.
- Support the Managing Director and external advisors on deep diligence and transaction structuring.
Portfolio Management and Integration
- Manage post-acquisition integration activities in partnership with operations team members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for selected portfolio organizations, maintaining strong, trust-based relationships.
- Support the development of portfolio-wide financial and impact reporting frameworks.
Strategy and Investment Process Development
- Contribute to the development and evolution of Lemnis Collective’s investment theses related to the future of learning.
- Help refine and manage the full investment process, ensuring rigor, efficiency, and mission alignment.
- Support preparation of board materials and portfolio updates.
Team Building and Management
- Lead the hiring and management of a full-time Associate.
- Collaborate with colleagues to help build a cohesive, high-performing team.
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in corporate development, private equity, M&A, impact investing, venture capital, or investment banking.
- Significant experience leading end-to-end deal processes, including diligence and transaction execution.
- Strong financial and strategic analysis skills; highly proficient in building financial models and investment materials.
- Passion for mission-driven work; experience with or enthusiasm for the education sector and the future of learning is a strong plus.
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and adaptable, with a comfort level operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to synthesize complex information and present to senior audiences.
- Leads with humility and a commitment to continuous learning.
