What we are looking for
- The Data Analyst supports data-driven decision-making processes and enhances the organization's ability to drive community impact. Reporting directly to the Director of Research and Evaluation, the Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in collecting, analyzing, depicting, and presenting data that informs the foundation’s grant-making, community initiatives, and strategic planning efforts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following functions have been determined to be essential to the successful performance of this position
Data Collection and Management
- Collaborate with various teams to collect, clean, and organize data from internal and external sources.
- Maintain quality and integrity of data collection and management, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to derive insights and trends that inform strategic decision-making and reporting.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, data analytics, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
- Provide support to staff on using and interpreting data.
Data-Driven Decision Support
- Assist in the identification and analysis of key performance indicators and metrics for evaluating and tracking results and learnings.
- Offer data-driven recommendations to improve program effectiveness and community outcomes.
- Work alongside key staff and external partners in the design and implementation of internal and external (e.g. staff, donors, grantees) surveys, including needs assessments and provide analysis as warranted.
- Monitor and aggregate research on best practices, trends, and innovations as needed.
Data Governance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and confidentiality regulations.
- Design and adhere to data processes and contribute to organizational policies and procedures.
- Ensure information is securely handled.
Collaborative Partnerships
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data analysis efforts with organizational objectives.

Job Qualifications and Requirements
The following are the qualifications and minimum requirements necessary for a person to perform this job
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data science, statistics, economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data analysis, including data collection, cleaning, and visualization.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong time management and workload prioritizing skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in an efficient and effective manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating cultural competence, sensitivity to community dynamics, and a commitment to racial equity and justice.
- Ability to travel and attend off-premises events, such as community events and meetings.
- Experience working with not-for-profit organizations, community initiatives, or community foundations is advantageous.
