Role Description
This role involves providing support to individuals and families experiencing a mental health crisis through the Maine Crisis Line.
- Answer calls and text/chat messages on the crisis line remotely.
- Assess presenting problems and psychosocial stressors of callers.
- Complete risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of callers.
- Use effective programmatic systems to support monitoring progress toward performance measures.
- Work collaboratively with Crisis Response Services across the State.
- Receive training to become certified as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree required.
- A year or more of crisis or mental health related experience preferred.
- Ability to earn the MHRT-CSP certification within 30 days of employment required.
- Solid oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.
- Ability to manage complex tasks effectively.
- Previous experience working in a call center or customer service environment is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Flexible schedule is required.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with complex information.
- Ability to become familiar with DSM-V information.
- Must demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn documentation software and resource applications.
- Ability to use telephone, instant messaging, and chat technology.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check, child protective service check, and sex offender check.
