We are recruiting for the following position: Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization Position Summary The Prep Cook assists the Cook in preparing regular and therapeutic meals for residents and assists in the preparation of food/meals for special functions and catering. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists in preparing foods for community meals according to the menu, using the standardized recipes provided. Assists in preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner, sack lunches and snacks, as appropriate. Assists with tray line and serving residents as needed. Prepares salad and desserts for lunch/dinner as per designated menu. Participates in organizational activities and functions. Job Description Assists with dishwashing functions, dining room clean-up, etc as needed. Performs routine cleaning tasks as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Demonstrate ability to read menu slips, menus and recipes. Incumbent must have an understanding of and an ability to identify therapeutic diets. Reading and Mathematical Skills Able to read and interpret menus, and recipes. Able to make simple calculations, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Reasoning Ability Utilize good judgment and have the ability to make appropriate decisions relative to position, department and resident needs. Language Skills Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required. Education and Experience, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Medical Screening EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High School diploma or GED preferred. Training in food safety, sanitation and Infection Control preferred. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Food Handler Permit. Must complete a pre-hire and annual TB test screening. Annual employee health screening required Annual TB test required Annual influenza vaccine required. Only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration. Employees with an approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask at all times during the flu season. Work Environment Typical institutional food services department. Hot cooking surfaces, food, large equipment, cold areas such as walk in refrigerator and freezer, etc. Potentially, wet floors. Physical Requirements Walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, reaching, grasping throughout shift. Must be able to lift 40-lbs. Average hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity required.
