Primary purpose

  • Leads the corporate Finance Department and manages staff. Oversees financial operations and compliance in a federal-government contracting environment. Manages the monthly financial close process, ensures compliance with FAR, CAS, and GAAP, and serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership. Oversees financial planning, reporting and analysis, cash management, indirect-cost rate proposals, and audit coordination.
  • Note: This is not a Program Finance or Contract Finance role. Experience supporting government contracts is valuable but candidates must have experience leading the corporate accounting function of a company or major division.

A successful candidate will do the following

  • Lead all accounting operations: general ledger, payroll, AP/AR, billing, and job cost accounting
  • Manage monthly financial close and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting to support strategic decision-making
  • Support CFO and executive leadership with strategic initiatives
  • Provide cash-flow reporting and projections
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS and government-contract requirements
  • Lead the annual Incurred-Cost Proposal and indirect-rate submissions
  • Act as primary point of contact for audits and financial reviews
  • Develop pricing models and budget narratives for responses to government RFPs
  • Oversee state registrations and reporting; support CPA firm with income-tax filings
  • Administer and ensure compliance of the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan
  • Maintain and administer Unanet financial ERP system
  • Provide financial training and support across divisions
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate finance staff
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including at least five (5) years working within a federal-government contracting environment
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a managerial role within the corporate finance function
  • Proficiency in GAAP, FAR, CAS, and indirect-rate structures
  • Expertise in corporate finance leadership (monthly close, indirect-rate management, GAAP compliance)
  • Strong understanding of various contract types (such as CPFF, FFP, and T&M)
  • Experience with government business proposals and pricing regulations
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills (such as pivot tables, lookups, and macros)
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a remote, fast-paced environment

Preferred qualifications

  • MBA and/or CPA
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint or Unanet ERP system
  • Experience administering or supporting an Employee Stock Ownership Plan
  • Experience supporting federally funded initiatives in public health or healthcare
