  • Description
  • The Controller is responsible for managing the Bank’s day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, and for maintaining internal control over financial reporting. The Controller partners closely with leadership to safeguard financial integrity, support strategic initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability and compliance.
  • Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Document, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting that ensure the Bank’s financial integrity and meet FDICIA internal control standards.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the general ledger, supervising day-to-day accounting operations, funds management, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Manage the month-end general ledger closing process.
  • Support the preparation and submission of regulatory and financial reports.
  • Manage the accounts payable and employee reimbursements and support third-party management processes.
  • Coordinate with external audits and regulatory examiners, as well as tax accountants and authorities.
  • Oversee accounting controls in support of payroll and 401k processes.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff to encourage individual professional advancement and expertise.
  • Support operational projects and strategic initiatives across the Bank.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA designation, or equivalent experience in community bank accounting.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience with a track record of implementing, documenting, and maintaining internal controls over financial reporting, preferably in banking or financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and document internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with senior leadership.
