About

As a Content Engineer at Inngest, you’ll lead the creation of high-quality educational content that teaches other engineers how to adopt Inngest with best practices. This includes everything from structuring and writing docs to clear, concise examples that teach the underlying principles that we provide in our SDKs.

Your voice and writing will be one of the first things that developers read when they begin using Inngest, making the docs you write one of the most critical aspects of our product experience.

A successful candidate will be able to bridge the gap between engineering, education, and content writing. As this role is equal parts engineering, examples, and writing, you’ll get to deeply understand how Inngest works, how our customers use the product, and how we can make our experience far better.

What you’ll do

As a Content Engineer, you will create high-quality, engaging content for the Inngest docs that drives developer awareness and adoption. Combining your engineering expertise with strong technical writing skills, you'll build our organic presence through various forms of content. In this role, you will focus on:

  • Creating developer-first documentation that educates and converts: Write engaging, technically accurate content that helps developers understand and implement Inngest.

  • Writing guides, tutorials, and examples: showcasing Inngest in real-world codebases, allowing developers to easily understand and explore Inngest

  • Incorporating user feedback to improve docs and guides: Ensure that our documentation remains high quality by incorporating user feedback into all facets of our docs and guides.

  • Collaborating across teams: Work closely with product, design, and growth teams to align content with product updates, technical insights, and growth initiatives. You’ll own the user-facing content for everything released in our product.

  • Contributing to content strategy: Research and identify high-impact technical topics that resonate with our developer audience, ensuring that our content serves the developer journey from exploration to implementation.

Who you are

  • An engineer first: proficiency in TypeScript and Node; you understand how HTTP, APIs, and queueing systems work. Bonus for basic knowledge of Next.js, Python, and/or Go.

  • You write and educate for developers: You understand how developers think, the questions they might have when learning new concepts, and know how to break down technical ideas into something understandable.

  • Technical proficiency with docs tooling: Proficient with MDX, Markdown, Git, and React

  • Strong language and communication skills: Fluent in English and able to adapt your writing style to fit the appropriate context

First 90 days

  • First week: You’ll understand how Inngest works, the concepts we’ve introduced, and how developers get started with us

  • By day 30: You’ll have written new content to help educate developers on aspects of Inngest, for either new features or existing under-documented areas

  • By day 90: You’ll have iterated on our core docs, helping improve the structure, organization, and clarity of our developer content. You’ll have a roadmap for our content pipeline, and understand how to effectively iterate on our content in the future
