Posting Close Date: Applicants must submit their completed application by 10-26-2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST Application and Special Instructions ABOUT THIS JOB Position Specific Description The Construction Inspector position in the City of Tucson’s Water Department is responsible for monitoring a variety of construction projects including but not limited to, new construction emergency repairs, and infrastructure rehabilitation. These projects support Tucson Water’s production and distribution systems. Construction Inspectors ensure that all Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) regulations, as well as Tucson Water’s policies and procedures, are followed. This position reports to the Construction Inspection Supervisor. This position does not supervise. Duties and Responsibilities Verifies all construction projects are compliant with Tucson Water’s specifications, standard detail requirements, follow the Safe Water Drinking Act (SWDA) and ADEQ (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality) requirements. Drives to various worksites to conduct daily inspections and documents the progress of construction projects. Performs quality assurance checks to ensure contractors’ work meets the required standards. Conducts pressure testing, bacteria testing, and disinfection as per local, state, and federal guidelines. Provides all required documentation required by state and federal regulations, including but not limited to As-Builts, ADEQ forms, pay applications, water loss reports, disinfection records, PDEQ forms, and daily reports. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to schedule meetings with contractors, provides construction updates and communicating compliance requirements. Finalizes projects before Tucson Water assumes ownership by conducting continuity tests, density tests, valve adjustments, and ensuring all Tucson Water requirement standards are met. Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned. Working Conditions Indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment. All duties and responsibilities listed are subject to change. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Education Six (6) months post high school Experience Four (4) years of directly related experience. Certifications Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License. Preferred Qualifications Water construction, municipality, and/or utility experience.
