Department Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals Division Building/Grounds Maintenance Salary $23.26 - $24.30 Job Profile JC-02339600-5 - Community Maintenance Technician Environment Services (C94 L1293 BHDDH Developmental Disabilities) Scheduled Work Days & Work Hours Monday - Friday; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Standard - 40 hours Opening Date December 16, 2025 Closing Date December 25, 2025 Job Requisition Number JR100379 Community Maintenance Technician-Environmental Servs (Open Date: 12/16/2025) Pay Grade C00314 G Classification Community Maintenance Technician Environment Services Class Definition GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To perform necessary tasks for the maintenance and preventive maintenance of the grounds for all state-run and/or state-operated facilities such as group homes, residential apartments, day site learning centers, special care facilities, and all other such facilities designed for the handicapped; to perform skilled and unskilled duties in the grounds maintenance field in several trades; and to do related work as required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives general directions and instructions from a supervisor or superior; work are reviewed upon completion. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises subordinates assigned to assist. ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: To perform necessary tasks for the maintenance and preventive maintenance of the grounds for all state-run and/or state-operated facilities such as group homes, residential apartments, day site learning centers, special care facilities, and all other such facilities designed for the handicapped. To perform skilled and unskilled duties in the grounds maintenance field in several trades. To drive all vehicles necessary to perform maintenance and preventive maintenance. To perform complex duties related to the maintenance of moving, repairing and assembling of furniture. To maintain the grounds including mowing, gardening, landscaping, hedge trimming, and raking of facilities. To remove snow including plowing and shoveling of snow. To clean rugs and upholstered furniture. To weld and braze metals. To do related work as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT: KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and processes involved in trades related to grounds maintenance and rug cleaning; a working knowledge of the use of all machinery, tools, and the equipment necessary for the grounds maintenance of all facilities and the ability to use such machinery, tools, and equipment; the ability to supervise helpers; the ability to make varied repairs without supervision; and related capacities and abilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Such as may have been gained through: completion of ten school grades; and Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment in the field of grounds maintenance. Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
