Role
- This position provides primary documentation, servicing, and administrative support for the member business loan portfolio. Provides overall support and assistance to the Commercial Loan Manager and Commercial Loan Officers. Provides assistance and information as needed to the Accounting Department and Collections Department related to the business loan portfolio. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining support systems, procedures, and processes for new and existing loans. This position is also responsible for executing member business loan documentation preparation, funding, follow up servicing and administration within the credit union's policies and procedures.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- 40% Coordinates application packages for business loans. Learns and becomes proficient in using lending software and digital vendor services. Orders credit reports, verifies commercial member entity status, prepares and records UCC searches/filings, assists lending staff with loan underwriting and approval process, orders and reviews flood status and environmental reports. Coordinates with title companies to order title insurance policy reports, prepare for loan closings, and follow up on all necessary documentation.
- 20% Prepares complete packages of business loan documents for all business loan types. Compiles various loan reports, financial data, documentation, and other department reports as required. Research loan documents and data as necessary to find and track documentation exceptions. Monitors loan renewals, insurance tracking, and periodic rate adjustments. Performs loan audits on completed loan packages. Assists with annual review preparations and document collection.
- 15% Input loan data onto the credit union’s core system. Prepare and disburse loan proceeds, monitors and initiates GL transactions for fees and disbursements. Updates interest rate information within the core system and lending software periodically.
- 10% Maintains a thorough knowledge of credit union business lending policies, procedures, and best practices. Maintains a thorough knowledge of NCUA business lending regulations and compliance requirements.
- 5% Assists commercial lending department staff with business member questions and loan problem resolution.
- 5% Assists all credit union staff to answer questions and inquiries related to member business lending.
- 5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with credit union members, vendors, and trade professionals.
- Professional working relationship exists with credit union personnel and management.
- Maintains knowledge of all business lending and deposit products, loan policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Assigned tasks and goals are met or exceeded in a timely manner.
- Ensures all documentation is completed efficiently and accurately.
- Assigned training is completed on time and at an acceptable level to management.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience
- One year to three years of similar or related experience. One to three years of commercial, real estate, mortgage, or real estate title documentation and processing experience preferred. Knowledge and familiarity with financial institution processes also preferred.
- Education
- A high school education or GED.
- Interpersonal Skills
- Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. The role requires a significant level of trust or diplomacy.
- Other Skills
- Strong personal computer skills including email composition, Word document composition, Excel spreadsheet generation and input, and navigation of CU Prodigy. Willingness to learn and become proficient in advanced loan software and applications such as LaserPro & Suntell. Ability to navigate digital vendor portals to obtain reports and process supplemental loan information.
- Ability to use Internet browsers, using search engines to perform keyword searches, visiting websites to research industry information and reports. Ability to express ideas concisely using proper grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to read and mathematically calculate discount rates, interest rates, payments, accrual, ratios, proportions, and percentages. Ability to process simple calculations using a finance or loan calculator.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word. Verbal communication is important to impart detailed or important oral information accurately and efficiently to members and credit union staff. Ability to perceive sounds and words through oral communication. Ability to exert up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally and lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Involves standing most of the time but may involve walking or sitting for brief periods of time.
- Work Environment
- Work is generally performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Exposure to ambient office equipment noise such as computers, telephone, and conversation between coworkers and members.
