About
About the Project INSPIRE is a groundbreaking, community-based lifestyle and brain health study — the largest of its kind in Los Angeles. Our mission is to empower participants to protect their brain and overall health through better nutrition, movement, stress management, sleep, and cognitive engagement. The Healthy-US.org website is already being developed on Loveable.dev, a powerful no-code front-end platform used for participant onboarding, education, and engagement. Now, we are building a secure, HIPAA-compliant backend to support the INSPIRE Study’s research infrastructure. This system will connect participant onboarding, data collection, and long-term lifestyle tracking across multiple tools, including REDCap and our CIRCLE lifestyle app. 🧩 Platform Integration Overview The final system will integrate: A public-facing site (Healthy-US.org, built on Loveable.dev) for participant engagement and consent. A REDCap-based backend for secure research data collection, e-consent, storage, and longitudinal follow-up. A connection to the CIRCLE lifestyle app for tracking nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, and cognition over time. We’re seeking a part-time REDCap Developer / Data Systems Engineer to architect and manage this backend with strong attention to privacy, usability, and data integrity, while coordinating closely with the Loveable.dev web team. ⚙️ Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, and maintain the REDCap infrastructure for the INSPIRE Study, including e-consent, baseline, 6-month, and annual follow-ups. Build custom REDCap instruments (e.g., lifestyle, cognitive, medical history questionnaires) and upload-ready data dictionaries. Develop and maintain secure API integrations between the Loveable.dev front end and the REDCap backend for automated participant enrollment and data synchronization. Implement and document all HIPAA-compliant workflows, including encryption, audit trails, and role-based access control. Ensure data integrity, validation, and quality assurance for all study instruments. Collaborate with the Loveable.dev development team and the research team to create a seamless, participant-friendly user experience. Create and manage data exports, dashboards, and reports for the research and analytics teams. Oversee version control, backup systems, and server security monitoring. Provide periodic testing and maintenance to ensure ongoing system reliability. 🎓 Qualifications Required 3+ years of experience with REDCap development and administration, including longitudinal and multi-event project setup. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, data security, and research informatics best practices. Proficiency in SQL, JSON, and API integration for data workflows. Experience with clinical, behavioral, or public health research. Clear communication and documentation skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical teams. Ability to work independently and manage priorities efficiently. Preferred Experience integrating REDCap with external platforms or custom front ends (e.g., Loveable.dev, WordPress, or web apps). Background in health informatics, cognitive or lifestyle medicine research. Familiarity with REDCap Cloud, FHIR standards, or CIRCLE app integrations. Working knowledge of Python, PHP, or R for automation and data manipulation. Prior experience supporting IRB-approved studies or community-based research. 🔐 Technical Environment Front End: Loveable.dev (for public website and participant portal) Back End: REDCap (Vanderbilt platform) hosted on a secure research server Integration: REDCap API + HTTPS/TLS 1.3 for secure data exchange Data Storage: HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or institutional server) Security: AES-256 encryption at rest, role-based permissions, and audit trails for all access Compliance: Full adherence to HIPAA, IRB, and data protection regulations
