  • Position Summary
  • Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic thought partner and key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the organization’s financial health, long-term sustainability, and strategic growth. The CFO will guide the organization through a period of significant expansion, ensuring strong financial controls, thoughtful forecasting, and innovative strategies that balance stability with opportunity. They will provide financial leadership, accountability, and forward-thinking insights to department heads, empowering them to manage their own departmental P&Ls and achieve key performance goals.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Financial Leadership
  • - Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO, executive team, and Board Finance Committee.
  • - Provide strategic analysis, data, and forecasts that inform key decisions and long-term planning.
  • - Lead efforts to sustain current revenue streams while identifying and pursuing new financial opportunities, partnerships, and funding models.
  • - Translate financial data into actionable insights that drive organizational strategy and performance.
  • Financial Planning, Analysis, and Reporting
  • - Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring collaboration and accountability with all department heads.
  • - Oversee timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to the CEO, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • - Develop and monitor KPIs to identify trends, areas of concern, and opportunities for growth.
  • - Provide clear analysis and recommendations for improving efficiency and financial outcomes across all business units.
  • - Coordinate and oversee annual financial audits and tax filings.
  • Operational and Administrative Oversight
  • - Supervise and continually evaluate the accounting and finance team, ensuring optimal performance, training, and structure.
  • - Oversee financial systems, policies, and internal controls to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • - Negotiate, evaluate, and manage contracts, vendor agreements, and RFPs to ensure value and alignment with organizational goals.
  • - Partner with the CEO and HR team on compensation planning and benefits strategies that support recruitment and retention.
  • Data, Technology, and Continuous Improvement
  • - Utilize data analytics to drive decision-making and identify key growth areas.
  • - Champion technology-driven improvements in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting systems.
  • - Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Requirements
  • - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
  • - Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive senior finance experience, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization with revenues over $8 million.
  • - Proven success managing complex budgets and leading teams in a growing organization.
  • - Strong strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate financial challenges and opportunities.
  • - Demonstrated experience working with and presenting to Boards and Finance Committees.
  • - Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • - Deep integrity, high emotional intelligence, and a commitment to the mission and values of the JCC.
