Organization: VUH 6CCT Cardiac ICU Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. . POSITION HOURS Three (3) 12-hour shifts Days: 6:45 a.m. - 7:15 p.m. Nights: Days: 6:45 p.m. - 7:15 a.m. Rotating based on unit need. No specific workdays or days off can be guaranteed. DEPARTMENT SUMMARY The environment on our unit is fast-paced, multidisciplinary, educational, high-acuity, supportive, team-oriented, and compassionate! We care for Adult patients aged 18 to 118 who are being treated for post-op recovery and intensive care for coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic surgeries, valve surgeries, pulmonary endarterectomies, heart/lung/dual organ transplant, and care of temporary mechanical circulator support, including the majority of our center's ECMO population. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. • Assists with day-to-day delivery of patient care. • Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards. • Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs. Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES CLINICAL COMPETENCIES (Novice): Demonstrates competence with interventions (such as point of care testing, vital signs, etc.) in practical applications of moderate difficulty. ENVIRONMENT OF CARE (Novice): Demonstrates ability to set up and maintain patient rooms, supplies, and equipment.
