  • Job Summary: 
  • Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is seeking a Summer Camp Nurse who will be responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of campers and staff for the duration of the 8 weeks of programming at Summer@BB&N. Staff working for Summer@BB&N work hard, have fun, and are positive role models for our campers.  We are looking for a candidate who will be dedicated, responsible, and eager to make every day fun at camp!

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • * Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • * Ensure a staff orientation session is delivered on medical services.
  • * Provide health care and first aid services to meet the needs of camp staff and campers. 
  • * Assist with daily medication management.
  • * Help supervise and care for people sent to the nurse's office for care.
  • * Provide CPR and First Aid coverage as needed at designated times and locations. 
  • * Provide direct care to staff within the scope of their skills, the camp’s health care manual, and treatment procedures.
  • * Organize, maintain, and utilize adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff.
  • * Maintain accurate and detailed medical records according to state and American Camping Association standards. 
  • * Monitor and assist in maintaining health and safety practices, supervising sanitary conditions throughout the camp.
  • * Prepare athletic areas and waterfront with adequate water, sunscreen, and other prevention materials.
  • * Work with other staff to minimize/eliminate health and safety risks
  • * Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements, Skills, and Competencies

  • The ideal candidate should have some experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.

In addition, the candidate must be

  • * A Registered Nurse (RN) with a license as required by the state.
  • * CPR certified.
  • * Experienced in both children's and adult illness/injury care.
  • * Available for training sessions on the nights of June 15th, 16th, and 17th, 2026.
  • * Education and First AID and BLS certification, preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: 
  • * Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
