About
🐛 Bug Whisperer Wanted: Expert Debugger for Shopify App Interfaces Location: Remote (anywhere with WiFi and a sense of humor) Hours: 2-3 hours/day (the perfect side hustle or morning routine replacement) Salary: Competitive (we promise it's better than finding bugs for free) The Role That Wasn't Supposed to Exist (But Here We Are) We need someone who gets genuinely excited when things break. Not in a chaotic villain way, but in a "I FOUND IT!" detective sort of way. You'll spend 2-3 glorious hours each day being the digital equivalent of that friend who always spots the typo, the plot hole, or the fact that the restaurant charged us twice for guacamole. Except instead of being annoying, you'll be invaluable. What You'll Actually Do Your Daily Quest: Hunt down bugs in our Shopify apps like you're on a safari, except the lions are broken buttons and the elephants are API errors Document each bug with the kind of detail that would make a CSI investigator jealous Categorize bugs by severity (is it a "the app is on fire" or a "there's a typo in the tooltip" situation?) Post your daily findings in Slack with enough clarity that our developers don't have to play 20 questions Organize bug reports so meticulously that Marie Kondo would weep with joy Your Slack Game Will Be Strong: Daily updates that people actually want to read (think: bug reports meet interesting narrative) Screenshots annotated better than a museum tour guide's commentary Clear reproduction steps that even our intern's cat could follow Priority ratings that make sense to humans, not just robots You're Perfect For This If: You naturally click on things that say "don't click this" You've found bugs in apps and thought "someone should really fix this" and now want to BE that someone You understand Shopify apps (or at least know they're not a place to buy apps made of fabric) You can explain technical issues without sounding like you're reciting a server log Your Slack messages are clear, concise, and occasionally contain an appropriate emoji or two You have an organizational system that would make a librarian nod approvingly You find satisfaction in the before picture of the bug, not just the after Bonus Points If: You've ever rage-tested an app at 2 AM and actually kept notes You know the difference between "this crashes" and "this looks weird but still works" You've filed a bug report so good that developers thanked you instead of asking for more info You can prioritize a bug list without everything being marked "URGENT" What Makes This Job Slightly Unusual: The Short Hours Thing: Yes, really. 2-3 hours a day. We'd rather have focused, quality bug hunting than 8 hours of "I guess I'll click things randomly now." The Slack Chronicles: You'll become a daily Slack celebrity. Your bug reports will be the most anticipated content since the last season finale of that show everyone watches. The Variety: Every day brings new creative ways our apps can misbehave. It's like a mystery box, but with more error messages. Requirements (The Serious Stuff): Proven experience finding and documenting bugs (professional or enthusiast-level obsessive works) Strong understanding of Shopify app interfaces and functionality Excellent written communication skills (you'll be writing A LOT in Slack) Ability to reproduce bugs consistently (not just "it broke once, I swear") Experience with bug tracking systems and organization methods Screenshots/screen recording skills (bonus: knowing when NOT to record in 4K) Available for 2-3 hours daily during reasonable overlap with our team Self-motivated (no one will be watching you click buttons for 2 hours) What We Offer: Flexible hours within your 2-3 hour daily window Remote work (test bugs in your pajamas, we don't judge) The satisfaction of making developers' lives easier A team that appreciates a good bug find like Gordon Ramsay appreciates a proper Wellington Clear feedback and communication channels The knowledge that you're making apps better for thousands of merchants How to Apply: Send us: Your resume (or LinkedIn, we're not picky) A brief cover letter explaining why you're the bug hunter we need An example of a bug you've found and how you documented it (sanitized if necessary) BONUS: Tell us about the weirdest bug you've ever encountered Applications without example bug reports will be treated like bugs ourselves: noted, categorized as "incomplete," and set aside. Equal Opportunity Statement: We're committed to building a diverse team. All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. Basically, if you can find bugs and communicate clearly, we want to hear from you. We believe in the power of a good bug report and the occasional well-placed GIF in Slack.
