The Human Resources Office is looking for candidates to fill a part-time receptionist position in the Bromfield Administrative Building and join our dynamic team!

The position is responsible for:

  • Acts as main front desk receptionist for Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) (e.g., answers telephone &/or voice mail, takes messages, refers calls, greets, directs &/or registers customers)

  • Operates personal computer (PC) & related software to enter, update, correct, delete or send data, retrieve/look-up data to verify/give out information

  • Provides basic routine information to internal & external customers in response to inquiries & requests received in writing &/or by telephone, e-mail, in-person &/or other means of communication

  • Performs clerical tasks as assigned: opens, stamps & reviews mail & forwards to appropriate staff; utilizes photocopiers to reproduce documents; utilizes fax machine to transmit information & documents; prepares mailings (e.g., produces labels, stuffs envelopes, assembles materials & documents)

  • Greets & announces visitors

  • Performs secretarial tasks for Enforcement Division and/or Human Resources Office

  • Utilizes personal computer & applicable software (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel) to prepare routine correspondence

  • Answers telephone calls & refers to appropriate parties for response

  • Completes reference checks & coordinates and participates in wellness activities

  • Corresponds with ODA employees for various purposes

  • Coordinates digitizing agency position descriptions (PD) into OAKS (e.g., requests division review, maintains status tracker, enters approved PDs into OAKS HCM PD)

  • Coordinates annual essential employee notifications and tracking of acknowledgments

  • Assists higher level HR staff with special projects (e.g., statewide venture, agency events, employee engagement)

This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. ODA bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. All other applications will only be considered if an internal bargaining unit applicant is not selected for this position.

Qualifications
18 months experience or 18 months training in secretarial/administrative professional field.

  • Or completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college.

  • Or 6 months experience as Administrative Professional 1, 16871.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
