About

Blender 3D Generalist/Animator (Character & Animation Focus) – Mythic UE5 Game Project Type: Freelance / Contract Duration: 3–6 Months (Part-Time, 10–20 hrs/week) Compensation: $15–25/hr (Based on Experience) Location: U.S.-based Project Overview We are developing Acheron ng Alamat, an ambitious indie action-adventure built in Unreal Engine 5, inspired by pre-colonial Filipino mythology, folklore, and martial arts. Our design philosophy rejects filler and pandering—we’re building a handcrafted world that feels alive, systemic, and unforgiving, where every choice carries consequence. Our pipeline runs Character Creator 5 → iClone 8 → Unreal Engine 5. We need a Blender 3D Generalist with strong animation and rigging skills to help bring characters, creatures, and combat systems to life. You’ll collaborate directly with UE5 engineers, concept artists, sculptors, and cultural consultants, shaping a distinctive “mythic painterly realism” aesthetic that blends authenticity with dynamic gameplay. What You’ll Do Model, rig, and animate characters, creatures, props, and simple environments in Blender, optimized for game use. Create expressive, physics-aware animations (combat attacks, traversal, cinematic flourishes) that bring our “Clock” directional melee and “Weave” combo chaining systems to life. Prototype low-poly assets for rapid gameplay testing (stealth mechanics, ritual magic, traversal systems). Work with cultural consultants to ensure authenticity while exploring stylized, painterly interpretations. Integrate assets into iClone 8 and Unreal Engine 5 using Live Link and plugins, ensuring rigs, animation state machines, and VFX run smoothly. Contribute to environmental storytelling—from village props to bestiary-inspired creatures—capturing the layered texture of indigenous myth. Optimize for real-time performance: efficient rigs, polycount discipline, LODs, and clean animation blueprints. Participate in brainstorms on topics like multi-protagonist swapping, systemic NPCs, and lunar-influenced world events. Required Skills Strong Blender expertise in modeling, rigging, and animation (portfolio required). Experience preparing assets for Unreal Engine (animation blueprints, skeletal meshes, Niagara VFX). Familiarity with game-ready asset optimization (polycounts, textures, rigs). Ability to create expressive, stylized animations that convey personality and combat logic. Strong communication and workflow discipline (clean files, organized exports, version control mindset). Nice-to-Have Skills Familiarity with iClone 8 or Character Creator 5 pipelines. Experience with physics-driven animation or procedural combat systems. Interest in Filipino mythology, folklore, or martial arts (Kali, Arnis, Eskrima). Basic VFX knowledge (particles, fluid sims, or stylized effects in Blender or Niagara). Bonus: Sound design skills (e.g., FL Studio, Reaper) for quick multimedia prototyping. Why Join Us Every contribution you make will directly shape the identity of Acheron. We’re building a living crucible of myth and survival, where indigenous storytelling, martial arts, and emergent gameplay converge. By joining, you’ll: Work in a tight, passionate indie team where your work is highly visible and valued. Gain experience in a cutting-edge pipeline blending Blender, CC5, iClone, and Unreal. Be part of a project that aims to reclaim underrepresented folklore and present it to a global audience with authenticity and respect. Help create a game that stands against AAA conventions—no filler, no bloat, just consequence, depth, and unforgettable mythic drama. If you’re excited by the chance to animate living myths, forge experimental combat systems, and bring a culturally rich world to life, we’d love to see your portfolio and talk about how your talents can elevate Acheron.
