Associate Packaging Engineering Specialist Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Packaging Engineering Specialist (Level 2) to join our Global Logistics Packaging Team in Heath, Ohio. This team plays a critical role in partnering with Production Control and Materials Management (PC/MM) on the improvement of operations supporting in optimizing the future of Supply Chain operations. Our Packaging Engineering Specialists are hard-working, goal-oriented and creative, and we are looking for this new team member to participate in every level of design and orientation. Position Responsibilities: Serves as a driver of packaging design and requirement development Partners to develop and deploy packaging planning and processes Performs requirements gathering and implementing packaging requirements including but not limited to drawing packages and detailed packaging instruction plans Partners with internal and external Business Partners to work together on packaging solutions Learns all facets of Packaging, earning invaluable skills and industry knowledge Under supervision, determines efficiencies and prepares improvements for implementation as part of cost effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applications Assists in providing logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international laws Assists with developing warehousing material flow, equipment layout, and capital budget to store assembly and support materials Designs and defines packaging of goods per established processes and customer requirements Under supervision, maintains employee awareness for hazardous materials (dangerous goods) general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulations Evaluates, classifies and develops packaging instructions for hazardous materials Plans the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for dangerous goods shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulations May occasionally interact and present to high level organizational leadership This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position is for 1st shift. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.) Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): More than 1 year of experience reading & interpreting engineering drawings and specifications More than 1 year of experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) More than 1 year of experience using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverables Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Degree in Engineering and/or technical discipline More than 1 year of experience in More than 1 year of experience with packaging engineering, preferably Military packaging More than 1 year of experience More than 1 year of experience working independently More than 1 year of experience critical thinking and problem solving More than 1 year of experience working with CAD system (SolidWorks, NX Unigraphics or Catia) More than 1 year of experience with Analytical and design Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years' related work experience, 7 years' related work experience, etc.) Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. Travel: Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.
