Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Research, Evaluation, and Data (RED) is responsible for working with the Director and leadership to oversee and manage research and evaluation efforts within the organization, ensuring the effective use of data to inform decision-making and organizational strategies. This role involves supporting center wide research projects, guiding evaluation methodologies, and ensuring that data collection and analysis processes are robust and aligned with best practices. In addition to overseeing the design and execution of research and evaluation efforts, this role provides essential project management and administrative support.
Essential Functions
- Project Management and Admin Oversight
- Manage and oversee projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope and budget.
- Coordinate project timelines, milestones, and deliverables with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient execution.
- Monitor project progress, adjust resources as necessary, and proactively address any challenges or delays that arise.
- Ensure regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project status, risks, and outcomes.
- Coordinate logistics for initiatives, including organizing meetings, facilitating data collection, and managing documentation.
- Assist in preparation of grant proposals, reports, and publications related to research and evaluation findings.
- Maintain project documentation, tracking, and filing systems to ensure efficient access to relevant materials.
- Support development of project budgets, monitor expenditures, and assist in reporting for grants or funding sources.
- Data Collection & Analysis
- Oversee design and implementation of data collection tools, such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups, ensuring they align with research and evaluation goals.
- Manage collection, cleaning, and analysis of data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Lead quantitative and qualitative data analysis using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS) and qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo).
- Synthesize data into clear, actionable reports and presentations for stakeholders at various levels.
- Data Management & Reporting
- Work with tech team to ensure the proper management and storage of data, maintaining adherence to data privacy standards, ethical guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Oversee development and implementation of dashboards and other data visualization tools to present research and evaluation outcomes effectively.
- Research & Evaluation Leadership
- Work with Director to lead and manage research and evaluation projects from design to implementation, ensuring that methodologies are scientifically sound and aligned with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop a comprehensive research and evaluation strategy that supports the organization's mission and objectives.
- Team Management & Development
- Supervise and mentor a team of analysts ensuring professional development and promoting a collaborative team environment.
- Provide guidance on research, evaluation, and data best practices and methods to staff and internal stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data and evaluation practices within the organization, recommending improvements to methodologies and processes.
- Identify new data sources and innovative research designs to enhance the organization's capacity to measure its programs' impact.
Experience & Qualifications Required
- Bachelors Degree in social services, public health, education, statistics, or related field required.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in research, evaluation, and data analysis, with a strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in leadership or supervisory role, managing teams or projects, including within academic settings.
- Proven experience in project managements, including planning, executing, and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with administrative support tasks such as budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing program evaluations or research studies.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Work, Outlook, Teams).
- Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, R, SAS, etc.) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
- Demonstrated understanding of dynamics of violence, sexual abuse prevention, emotional and physical misconduct, and trauma-informed care principles.
- Clear knowledge of how identity impacts interpersonal violence (rates of abuse, types of abuse, patterns of abuse, barriers to reporting, etc.)
- Expertise in research and evaluation methodologies (quantitative and qualitative).
- Strong project management skills, ability to manage timelines, budgets, and teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, high level of flexibility in communication style.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and ethical research standards.
- Knowledge of SQL or programming languages such as Python.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive data.
- Ability to think critically and strategically.
- Superior leadership skills including, but not limited to, delegation, problem solving, management, integrity, and motivation.
Experience & Qualifications Preferred
- Experience supervising remote team
- Familiarity with advanced statistical techniques, machine learning, or big data analysis.
- Experience with grant management and funding reporting, and data related to minors and/or sexual abuse/domestic violence survivors
- High level of emotional intelligence, ability to make decisions
WORK REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT
- Standard office equipment provided
- Office environment in multi-story, dog-friendly building
- Some night and weekend work hours
- Some overnight travel required
WORK LOCATION – Denver, CO; or hybrid/remote possible.
This is a full-time, exempt position. The starting salary range for this position is $92,000 - $102,000, and will be commensurate with background and experience.
