• Wage Range: $10.75 to $15.95
• Position Overview: Under the direction of the Facilities Director and in accordance with the Strategic Road Map of the Marion Family YMCA, the after-hours custodian is responsible for maintaining a healthy and safe environment by performing after-hours routine janitorial and maintenance duties to ensure the cleanliness, sanitization, and upkeep of the facility. The incumbent must role model the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Position Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age. Six months or more experience in facility cleaning is preferred. Must be able to carry out instructions and work independently; understand written and oral instructions; read and interpret documents such as SDS. Must have a basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment, cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use. Slip resistant shoes are required. Obtain within 90 days and keep current certifications in First Aid and CPR with AED.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close and peripheral vision. The employee may be exposed to wet and or/humid conditions and occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Job Summary

• We are seeking a dedicated and reliable After-Hours Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in our facilities during evening and night shifts. This role is essential in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all YMCA members and employees.

Key Responsibilities

• - Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
• - Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• - Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
• - Restock supplies in restrooms and kitchen areas as needed.
• - Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
• - Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• - Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• - Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• - Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• - Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
• - Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
• - Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and lift moderate weights.
• - Flexibility to work evening and night shifts as required.
