Agency Adult Correction Division Operations Job Classification Title Administrative Associate II (S) Position Number 60062519 Grade NC02 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Provide clerical and administrative support in a correctional setting for the Associate Warden of Custody. This support provides clerical and secretarial duties to Custody supervisors. This position has frequent public contact through direct calls, taking messages, answering questions, using sound judgment, and discretion on how to handle information received, as it relates to the facility. Document processing and preparation, such as typing, collating, and logging various reports, plans, rosters, charts, operation procedures, etc. This position will prepare and compile statistics and other information required as part of regular reporting routines for management, as well as record and transcribe meeting minutes as needed. A great deal of confidentiality is required in much of the correspondence, such as those dealing with employee discipline, or other personnel matters, offenders' custody status, etc. This position will use a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suite, and departmental specific applications as well as calculator, fax machine, and copy machines on a daily basis. This position will maintain an efficient comprehensive filing system, with the ability to enter and retrieve information from various electronic and/or physical data retention systems. This position will have an office that is located in a Minimum Custody Facility and is subject to contact with minimum custody male offenders. This position requires excellent typing abilities, good spelling and grammatical skills. This individual must be able to communicate clearly and effectively. Must have the ability to compile, organize and present information based on general instructions. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
