The City of Biddeford is looking for a highly motivated, eager to learn, team-oriented, and organized individual to serve as the Administrative Assistant in the Assessing Department.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of administrative and assessing clerical tasks including:
- Responding to all incoming general department questions
- Answering or directing the questions to the appropriate employee
- Maintaining an organized filing system both on paper and electronically of all property ownership data, taxpayer applications, department operations budget, Assessing webpage updates, and department calendar updates
- Perform the duties of managing, scheduling, and coordinating office functions
- Acts as reception for the office, which includes answering phone calls, assisting members of the public (walk-ins), scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings
- Prepares and processes correspondence, including:
- Declarations of Value and Deeds
- Sales information and sales maps
- Advertising notices
- Manages necessary paperwork for the following:
- Expenditures to budget
- Purchase orders
- Paperwork for the Assessment Review Board (minutes/agendas/packets)
- Other reports, as necessary
- Maintains all filing (paper and electronic)
Required Qualifications
- Considerable skill with computers and technology
- Will establish healthy, communicative, and respectful working relationships
- Can maintain a full workload while managing frequent interruptions, formal schedules, and explicit deadlines
- Able to engage with the public in a constructive, respectful, and courteous manner
- High School diploma, 3 years of related experience with any combination of the above, OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience
- A willingness to demonstrate a commitment to the City of Biddeford's work around diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Real Estate-related job or course work
- Intern-related municipal government job or course work
- Administrative Assistant-related job or course work
- Experience with Vision

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
