The Prince George’s County Department of Health is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a vacant Administrative Aide 4A, grade A19, in the Family Health Services division.About the PositionThis is highly responsible senior level administrative/secretarial work in which the incumbents apply a broad knowledge of the functions of County government. Work at this level is distinguished from that of the Administrative Aide Ill by the greater complexity and variety of secretarial, administrative and office management functions. The scope of duties requires a greater degree of independent judgment. Administrative Aide IV's may report to the head of a medium sized department (generally grades ranging from 31 and above), to an important official in the Office of the County Executive or County Council or to a Deputy Director. Incumbents at this level usually receive very general instructions and supervision on most assignments. May coordinate a variety of diverse functions/activities and supervise a small group of clerical employees. Work performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy and timely completion of projects and assignments. About the AgencyThe Prince George's County Health Department's (PGCHD) vision is that all Prince Georgians are their healthiest at every age and every stage. The PGCHD works to protect and support the public’s health through numerous services that range from restaurant inspections and disease tracking to care coordination and health promotion. The department is composed of four divisions: Behavioral Health Services, Environmental Health and Disease Control, Family Health Services, and Health and Wellness, supported by the Office of Administration, Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Health Officer. The mandate of the department has been, and will remain, broad. This plan emphasizes improving core functions and operations, including protecting the public from health threats, implementing strategies to support healthy living, and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations, while developing efficient internal processes to support these activities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs highly responsible secretarial/administrative services in support of an important official. Acts in the absence of an Executive Administrative Aide. Types highly sensitive and confidential material and disseminating information to appropriate personnel. Drafts and composes a variety of letters, memoranda, reports, for supervisor's signature. Proofreads and edits various letters, reports. Manages supervisor's calendar. Coordinates a variety of office activities, special projects and functions as needed. Supervises and trains a small group of clerical office staff. Develops and modifies office procedures and forms to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Maintains adequate supply of office materials and supplies. Researches and organizes background material in preparation for meetings, conferences, and hearings. Responds to inquiries and referrals from other offices and visitors to ensure that information flow is accurate and prompt and to maintain good public relations. Assists in preparing the budget for small agency or component of large agency as needed. Performs tasks and duties willingly and cooperatively which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.

Applicants who have previously taken the exam on or after 8/1/2024, and passed, will not be required to re-test; instead, previous test scores will be used to receive the passing disposition.Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable. Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, where applicable.Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave if applicable.
