Position Summary:
The Accessioning Manager oversees the daily operations of the accessioning department within the pathology laboratory. This role ensures accurate and timely receipt, labeling, documentation, and data entry of all incoming specimens. The manager is responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, optimizing workflow, and supervising accessioning staff to support high-quality laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate all activities related to specimen accessioning and data entry.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate accessioning staff to ensure consistent performance and adherence to protocols.
- Ensure proper specimen labeling, tracking, and documentation in accordance with laboratory and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with pathologists, lab personnel, and external partners to resolve discrepancies or specimen issues.
- Maintain and improve accessioning procedures for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Monitor supply inventory, equipment maintenance, and department metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a life science or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or pathology setting; prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS), specimen handling, and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
